Issaquah Highlands home raises the bar for accessible environmentally friendly building
Bennett Homes' 5-Star Built Green, Northwest Energy Star and American Lung Association Health Certified single-family home will be open to the public June 26-27, to educate and inspire with the latest in green strategies and certification programs. Speakers will also present more in-depth information about green building practices.
When: Tours begin on Friday from 1pm-6pm and Saturday from 10am-6pm
Where: 315 NE Eagle Way, Issaquah Highlands, Issaquah
About the Home: With a particular focus on indoor air quality, this 2,486 square foot home is one of the only homes in Washington to achieve the American Lung Association (ALA) Health House designation. It was also certified by Energy Star Homes Northwest and has a 5-Star Built Green rating.
In addition to the indoor air quality measures, the home was also designed to perform at least 30 percent better than Washington State Energy Code. This combination of indoor air and energy measures was achieved through a tight envelope with less than 0.25 ACH (air changes per hour), sealed ducts, a combination of blown in cellulose and spray foam insulations and 75 percent compact fluorescent fixtures among numerous other green building strategies.
The builder also added zero impervious surfaces outside the home's footprint and used landscaping that would not require watering to ensure that the site would perform as well as the home.
