Featured Project

Ichijo USA - Redmond, WA
Project: Built Green 4-Star Single Family Townhomes
Verifier: Tom Balderston, Conservation Services Group

This project is an excellent demonstration of net-zero energy townhomes at an affordable price. The homes had a score of over 600 points, but due to the small site, they could not include all of the prerequisites for 5-Star Built Green certification.

Managing Stormwater in The Northwest
March 5, Tacoma
A Business Perspective on Stormwater Regulation. Stormwater regulations have tightened, third-party lawsuits continue to be an enforcement threat and, for property owners and managers, the economics of compliance matter more than ever. This conference will address these challenges and will present practical answers for companies and service providers in Washington and Oregon.

Sustainable Building Advisor Program Course
March 21 to June 21, Seattle
O’Brien & Company will host the classroom portion of the Seattle Sustainable Building Advisor Program. Also included in the program will be field trips to exemplary sustainable and green building projects throughout Seattle.
After successfully completing the Sustainable Building Advisor Program students can become Certified Sustainable Building Advisors (CSBA) by taking the CSBA exam. A passing score entitles professionals to use the designation CSBA after one’s name on business cards and resumes, for example. As a Certified Sustainable Building Advisor you will be part of an active alumni network of leading green building professionals.

Green Building – The Marketing Advantage
March 28, Seattle
This course examines the “what” and “why” of green building and takes the broker on a journey through “The Inspiration House,” which is certified under the two major certification programs in Washington. Brokers will learn who’s interested in buying green homes and how selling green homes, when the benefits are thoroughly understood, is the marketing advantage.
