Featured Project

Ninebark Design Build - Seward Park, WA
Project: Built Green 5-Star Remodel
Verifier: Pam Worner, Green Dog Enterprises, Inc

Of the nearly 15,000 homes certified by the Built Green program, only a handful have been 5-star remodels. It’s not easy to take any existing home, much less a 1938 Tudor, and bring it up to the top standards of green building, including energy performance 30-percent more efficient than code. On their website for the project, homereclaimed.com, Ninebark partners Ryan Mankoski and Luke Ivey explain the attraction for them: "It’s a challenge even with a traditional remodel to meet current structural, energy and life safety code standards. When you add state of the art systems, building air sealing and reclaimed finishes, and throughout the way, thoughtfully design the appearance of the final structure to compliment its environment, you begin to think with an epic mindset. Throughout this process we told ourselves nobody else was doing this. That’s exactly why we did it."
