Project: Built Green Single Family/Townhome New Construction
Verifier: Evergreen Certified

The Meridian FlexHaus at 8015 Meridian Ave. N. is a new 5-Star Built Green residence located just three blocks from the shops, restaurants and jogging trail at the northern tip of Green Lake. Based on Japanese and European designs, this innovative 3,019-square-foot residence is made up of two joined living spaces. This design allows for flexible living arrangements and additional urban density within a single-family zoned neighborhood.

This July, we'll be celebrating Seattle's innovative sustainable businesses. Come meet over 10 local businesses, including the winners of the 2014 Sustainability Leadership Awards and hear about the inspirational sustainability initiatives making Seattle a truly Emerald City. Anatomy of a Deep Green Home
July 9, Seattle
The field of green construction has continued to grow in spite of the economic downturn. "Green" building is certainly the wave of the future and will someday become main stream. This course chronicles the journey from idea to reality of a national award-winning deep-green demonstration home. The curriculum provides a snapshot of residential green building concepts, including ratings, design, energy and water use reduction and materials.

Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead Training
July 22 to 23, Bellevue
We are happy to now offer Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead Training (CESCL) certification courses at a new reduced price. CESCL certification is required in the state of Washington by the Washington State Department of Ecology for personnel responsible for construction stormwater inspections and sampling at construction sites. Students who complete the course will receive a Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL) card, which is good for three years.

Nico Larco, AIA is an associate professor in the Department of Architecture and is affiliated faculty in Planning, Public Policy, and Management at the University of Oregon. He is also the co-founder and co-director of the Sustainable Cities Initiative.

Enrollment Deadline Approaching
Enroll your Single-family Projects by July 18 to be eligible to certify with the 2011 Single-family Checklist
On Dec. 9, 2013, the Built Green Executive Committee approved an update to the single-family checklist. Beginning on July 18, 2014, all new construction single-family and townhome projects will be required to adhere to the new statewide New Construction Single-family/Townhome Certification checklist.
