Plugging into the Future- Vision2Action Symposium
September 17, Star Center, Tacoma
Tacoma and Pierce County enjoy a uniquely favorable environment for EV adoption and use; ideally located on the electrified I-5 corridor from B.C. to northern California, and drawing upon emissions-free, regional hydropower, Pierce County can expect a continuing growth in privately-owned electric vehicles. Yet more EV adoption will place new demands on homebuilders being asked to provide home-based charging infrastructure. Representatives Dick Muri and Jake Fey are both members of the Washington House of Representatives Electric Vehicle (EV) Caucus, and believe the use of electric vehicles can strengthen Washington's economy. One key challenge is how to get more EV charging infrastructure into single- and multi-family residential development—both new construction and redevelopment. Find out more at the event website.

Call for Applications: Emerald Star Grant Available!
Built Green is opening applications for a King County supported grant that will assist in the development of a multi-unit Emerald Star housing development within King County, outside of Seattle. The grant will be $20,000 delivered in 2015 and $12,000 in 2016, provided that project deliverables are mapped out and are being met on schedule. Selection will be based on project size, ambition, replicability, cost estimates, and aims. Strong preference will be given to affordable housing projects. All applications must be for multi-family or multi-unit developments within King County, excluding Seattle, and are solely for projects that will achieve Emerald Star certification. For more information, see the application details online or contact Leah Missik.
Mixer and Built Green Pioneer Award Winner
On August 20 Built Green hosted a pre-conference mixer at the Seattle showroom of Surface Theory, a sustainable materials seller specializing in reclaimed wood products. A great time was had by all who came, and a lucky winner received a free Built Green Conference ticket! Additionally, we announced a new Built Green Pioneer Award winner; Aaron Adelstein, who we wanted to recognize for all of his work in advancing the Built Green program.
Keep an eye out for more fun member events like this one! Don't forget, the Built Green Conference reception will be, just as this mixer was, lots of fun!
