2007 Northwest Builders Show features David Johnston and other green-building professionals!
David Johnston, recipient of the 2007 International Sustainability Pioneer Award, is a featured guest speaker at the 2007 Northwest Builders Show. The title of his presentation is “What’s Working? Green Remodeling”.
David Johnston has often been recognized as a national and international leader in the field of green building and sustainability. The SAM/SPG Sustainability Leadership Award is in its seventh year, and acknowledges personal excellence in implementing the principles of sustainability in the corporate sector. David Johnston is one of several other highly qualified professionals who will focus on leading edge topic within the building industry and green building.
Mike Nelson, Photovoltaic Projects Specialist and Manager of the Northwest Solar Center, will present the technical, economic and marketing strategies for including renewable energy in your business plan. The (EEBA) Environmental and Energy Building Association will offer a full-day pre-conference seminar Dec. 10th. The EEBA course runs from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and requires pre-registration and includes lunch for a rate of $75.00. Mapping a Future for Low Impact Development in Snohomish County
Meet with Snohomish County staff to provide suggestions to streamline the LID permit process. This workshop will provide a forum for development professionals to provide input on the development process, rank LID features and benefits, and suggest amendments to county codes. King County |
New Round of Built Green® Incentive announced
Builders of single- and multi-family projects in King County could be eligible to receive grant funding through the Built Green® Incentive program, which promotes environmentally friendly construction.
The Built Green program, King County’s Department of Natural Resources and Parks, and Seattle Public Utilities have announced a new round of grant incentives for residential project builders seeking Built Green certification in King County.
Single family, townhome and residential community developments that achieve a 4- or 5-star Built Green certification are eligible. Applications and guidelines will be available online soon at www.builtgreen.net/incentive.html. Applications are due Dec. 21.
Eligible projects can receive between $2,500 and $15,000, depending on project type and level of Built Green certification achieved. To be eligible for grant funding; projects must meet key goals for water conservation; soil standards; stormwater management; and recycling of construction, demolition and land clearing debris. Eight grants were awarded in the first round of the Built Green grants, which were announced earlier this year.
