Two Seattle mayoral candidates and one city council candidate shared their perspectives this week on hot housing topics in the expanding city, including affordable housing, clean energy, and density issues.

The contenders took part in a panel that discussed ways to make the region “inclusive, resilient and vibrant” as part of Built Green’s 2017 Conference on September 14. The annual event brings construction sector stakeholders together to learn about current best practices and technology for environmentally friendly building.

The housing market in Washington experienced growth, with 24 out of 26 counties reporting a year-over-year increase in available homes. Overall, active property listings in Washington counties covered by NWMLS rose by 41%. The month's supply of housing inventory as of May 2024 is at 1.5 in King County and 1.2 in Snohomish county.

Volunteers gave their time and expertise to build a ramp for an 11-year-old Auburn boy last Saturday.

Trenton Heuring Smart was born with cerebral palsy and has seizures. He can’t walk or speak. The ramp will help caregivers transport him in and out of his home for safely.

The ramp was made possible through the efforts of the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties, Dunn Lumber, Pacific Lumber Inspection Bureau, and volunteers.
