Data from the Northwest Multiple Listing Service show the month’s supply of housing inventory for sale continuing to decline in King and Snohomish counties. In November, King County had 0.93 months’ supply of inventory, down from 0.99 the previous month, and 1.39 months’ of inventory a year ago. Even more concerning, Snohomish County had just 0.38 months’ supply of inventory in November, down from 0.49 the prior month and 1.27 a year ago.

Housing inventory for sale fell between September and October to 1.74 months’ supply in King County and 1.51 months’ supply in Snohomish County. In both counties, this is down from a year ago. Meanwhile single-family and multifamily building permits were down 6% in the Seattle Metro Area (including King, Snohomish, and Pierce counties) in September compared to the same period last year.

Single family permits in the Seattle metro area were down 14% and multifamily permits down 6% through the end of May, compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, the supply of homes for sale continues to be very low—just 1.77 months in King County and 1.49 months in Snohomish County during June.
