The region's top remodeling professionals gathered to recognize exceptional craftsmanship, innovation, and design across dozens of project categories, from powder rooms to major whole-home transformations.

Each year, the Master Builder Association of King and Snohomish Counties (MBAKS) Remodeling Excellence Awards (REX) shine a well-deserved spotlight on the companies and craftspeople raising the bar for what's possible in residential remodeling. This year's competition drew an outstanding field of entries, with local firms demonstrating remarkable range — blending technical expertise with inspired design sensibility across every corner of the home.

At Victory Hall, attendees enjoyed a pre-function cocktail hour featuring four fully furnished living rooms where guests could sit and mingle, complete with previous REX trophies on display and photo albums showcasing all the entrants. During dinner and intermission, attendees enjoyed a live musical performance from recording artist Annie J — a first for the REX Awards Gala.

From historically appropriate restorations to cutting-edge universal design solutions, the 2026 winners reflect the breadth and depth of talent working in our region today. Several firms earned multiple recognitions, a testament to their consistency and commitment to quality. And one project rose above the rest to claim the night's highest honor.

2020 Winners Announced for the REX/T-REX (Remodeling Excellence and Trades Remodeling Excellence) Awards

The virtual celebration highlighted the best remodelers in the Puget Sound region.

BELLEVUE, Wash.—August 17, 2020—The Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties (MBAKS) hosted their Remodeling/Trades Remodeling Excellence (REX/T-REX) Awards virtually this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The REX/T-REX Awards are presented by the Remodelers Council of MBAKS, the oldest Remodelers Council in the nation. Local remodelers and builders submitted their best projects of the year. They watched the ceremony at small viewing parties in compliance with Washington state’s Phase 2 guidelines and accepted their awards over camera.

REX/T-REX entries were judged on the following categories:

1. Aesthetics—How is the remodel visually appealing?
2. Special or unique design solutions—How was the space planned and was livability considered?
3. Quality workmanship—What are the special features of the project and is there attention to detail?
4. Use of appropriate building material—Does the remodel complement existing structure and design?
5. Budgetary consideration—How did the project keep within the budget and still deliver client expectations?
6. Challenges and obstacles—Were there any unexpected obstacles that called for adjustments?

MBAKS Announces 2023 REX/T-REX (Remodeling Excellence and Trades Remodeling Excellence) Awards Winners

BELLEVUE, Wash.—May 6, 2023—For the 37th year in a row, the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties (MBAKS) hosted their annual Remodeling/Trades Remodeling Excellence (REX/T-REX) Awards.

The REX/T-REX Awards, presented by the Remodelers Council of MBAKS, encourages local remodelers and builders to submit their best projects of the year. Each submission is reviewed by a panel of remodeling professionals from across the country and winners are selected in each category. The categories are: Design, Interior/Exterior Details, Bath, Kitchen, Addition, Outdoor Living, Major Remodel, Historical, ADU/DADU, Green Remodel, Aging in Place, and Get Away Room/Basement.

REX/T-REX entries were judged on the following categories:
