Deadline Fast Approaching for Built Green Conference Session Submissions

Built Green Conference 2020: September 17, Lynnwood Convention Center. Call for proposals.

We are planning our annual Built Green Conference and we invite YOU to submit a proposal for a breakout session! The May 21 deadline is fast approaching.

Our Built Green community is buzzing with subject-matter experts and practitioners who can share their stories and experiences with the rest of the community. If you are reading this, you are one of them!

This year’s conference theme is Our Collective Resiliency. In these challenging, uncertain times, it is important to recognize the strength we have as a community and to celebrate the collective experience, knowledge, and accomplishments we have achieved. We are eager to receive proposals for sessions that may be lectures, panels, or workshops on topics that will inspire and strengthen the resiliency of our industry and communities.

Stacy Smedley, Skanska USA Building

In that spirit, we are excited to have keynote speaker Stacy Smedley, Director of Sustainability at Skanska USA Building, share her stories and experience. Stacy has long embraced community engagement in the pursuit of sustainable design, as well as construction methods to build resilient communities. She cofounded the SEED Collaborative, focused on restorative learning spaces. Stacy is also a Living Building Hero and was a lead developer of the Embodied Carbon in Construction Calculator (EC3), an open-source tool released in 2019.

To facilitate robust conversations, the conference will feature four tracks for breakout sessions:

  • Hive Mind—Building resilient communities through collaboration, innovation, and bold action
  • Healthy Homes—Design and field practices that promote healthy and resilient homes
  • Policy Carrots—Enacting green building incentive policies to continually improve the Puget Sound environment
  • Built Science—Science and data-driven technical knowledge for designers and builders

If you're interested in presenting at this year's conference, don't forget to submit your proposal by May 21.
